  We came across Howards website when researching retrofitting. It is an absolute GOLD MINE of information and videos, and really goes into detail to describe what happens to buildings in the event of an earthquake, different retrofitting options based on your building type etc.
  
  I reached out to Howard because I wanted an assessment of our house. He wasn’t able to take on our job but was able to give me a few pointers. I went through Angies list and had a few different seismic retrofitting firms come out. After consulting with them, I reached out to Howard again since we were so confused and at that point, and very desperate (having received what we now know to be bad advice, deliberately trying to scare us into spending unnecessary money). I am absolutely amazed at his response. Over the course of a few days, we emailed Howard back and forth, he asked us to share house plans and other information, so he could really look at our house and give us solid advice based on his years of experience. He made himself available to speak personally, and was nothing but genuinely helpful, even though he had nothing to gain financially by doing so. In this day and age, who provides so much of their time and experience, and asks nothing in return?! I am absolutely blown away by the kindness and generosity of this man.
  
  You will see from his website that this man knows his stuff. So whilst I was unable to employ his services this time, I would do so in a heartbeat if needed in the future.
